For new smokers, lighting a cigar can seem as daunting as learning to choose a good single.  Here are four tips to guide you in lighting a cigar for the first time.

1.  Use cedar matches, if possible.  If you prefer to use a lighter, make sure it’s butane lighter to avoid strong odors.  

2.  Warm the open end of the cigar (aka ‘the foot’ of the cigar) slowly over the flame, without touching it to the fire.  Let a black ring form around the end.

3.  Place the cigar in your mouth and draw in slowly.  Hold the cigar over the flame, about half an inch above it, again without touching.  Continue to draw in until the cigar draws the flame.   Turn the cigar slowly, spinning it to establish an even burn.

4.  Once your cigar is lit, take it out of your mouth and observe the burn you have established.  If the burn appears to be uneven, simply blow on the unlit sections to draw the burn, and then take one or two draws from the cigar to reestablish an even burn.

Warlocks – Bring Fear Upon Thee

Warlocks have always been a nice class to play. For some reason they always looked great, Blizzard always made the nicest tiers sets for them, then they have those cool class mounts. However, it isn’t only the look that counts and the Warlocks have a lot more to offer. The Warlocks are great casters and use the Schools of Fire and Shadow damage as well as a variety of different Fear spells and a Demonic Pet to bring pain upon their enemies.

You can choose a different pet for different scenarios. You can choose between an Imp, Fel Hunter, Succubus, Fel Guard, and even a Fire Golem can be summoned. You can also find some warrior leveling guides that will help you with that class as well.

A Warlock needs Soul Shards for some abilities. These can easily be obtained though by using Drain Soul on an enemy.

A Warlock is very nice in PvP because he has a lot of damage over time (DoT) spells. If he first casts a few DoT’s and then continuously fears his opponents while also his pet is chasing them around doing additional damage, he basically can win from most opponents. The Locks also have some nice AoE spells like most other casters and have some other specific abilities. One of them is the Ritual of Souls. With this ability he makes a Soulwell which all the party and raid members can use to get a Healthstone, which instantly restores health when used. Warlocks can also create a Soulstone on themselves or on other players. Once the player dies he would be able to resurrect. Last but not least is their ability to summon other players which comes in very handy from time to time.

If you want to play a Warlock you can choose between the following races: Gnome, Human, Orc, Undead, and Blood Elves.

There are three talent trees that all enhance the Warlocks damage. Warrior leveling guides 3.3 are on the way as well.

Lets start with the Affliction talent tree. Favored by many PvP Warlocks is the Affliction build simply because it focuses on the DoT spells of a Warlock and even gives him some new ones. Also the fear spells become better when this build is followed. The tactic of DoTting and then fearing like said before is great for PvP.

Then you got the Demonology build which increases the damage output of the Warlock as well as the Pets one can summon. It also gives the Warlock the ability to sacrifice his pet to make him stronger. This build is also nice for both PvE and PvP. If the Demonology build is followed till the end you will even be able to transfer into a Demon yourself. As a Demon you will get a new set of abilities and become more of a melee character with increased damage for a period of time.

The name says it all; The Destruction spec focuses on the damaging spells that do a lot of damage like Shadowbolt and the Fire based spells. This build is developed to be able to top damage meters with powerful spells.

As a Lock you can of course choose to make sort of a hybrid build between Demonology and Destruction which is also seen quite often.

Your cigar box may be at risk of a secret predator.  Many cigar aficionados have been shocked and repulsed at finding their treasured cigars infested with Lasioderma Serricorne, also known as tobacco beetles.  This dreaded beetle feeds on your precious cigars.  They don’t care if your cigars are drugstore mass-market brands, or imported beauties.  

What is the tobacco beetle, and where does it come from?  The tobacco beetle exits in all countries where tobacco is produced.  It thrives on tobacco plants, infesting their leaves before it is processed.  Tobacco beetles thrive in hot climates, and especially in the warm countries Caribbean countries where much of the world’s tobacco is produced.  Tobacco beetles lay larvae that are white and up to 4 mm long.  When the larvae hatch, they produce moths that proceed to hungrily eat their way through the tobacco leaves.  Unfortunately, the tobacco beetle has been known to survive the process of fermentation and production that is used to make most cigars. Although many countries have made the effort to rid their tobacco crops of this dreaded pest, mostly by spraying crops with gases, the tobacco beetle has proven highly resistant.  

If the tobacco beetle survives into the finished product, many cigar enthusiasts may open their cigar boxes to find that their cigars have been eaten through.  Sometimes the presence of the tobacco beetle can be detected through the presence of small puncture-like holes on the wrapper.  The holes can make an average cigar resemble a flute.  

What can you do if you find your cigars infested with the tobacco beetle?  Research has shown that your microwave may be your best defense in destroying the tobacco beetle larvae.  Before using your microwave, remove and dispose of any infested cigar from your collection.  The rest of your cigars can be treated.  In order to rid the remaining of your collection of this pest, you should make sure to microwave your cigars together, never individually.  Microwave them for about three minutes.  After being warmed, immediately place the cigars into the freezer.  After freezing them for 24 hours, remove them and allow them to thaw at room temperature.  After they have thawed completely, place them in a humidor.  This treatment has proven effective in removing the presence of the tobacco beetle.  Before removing a cigar from the humidor to be smoked, examine each cigar individually.  If the cigar shows no evidence of infestation, it is safe to smoke.

Smoking cigars may be a great source of pleasure in your life, but the courteous smoker knows that not everyone enjoys the taste (or smell!) of a good Cuban.  With the fervor of anti-smoking campaigns still in full swing, the importance of enjoying a good stogie while not offending others cannot be stressed enough.  Simply remember that while you are smoking a cigar, it can be difficult to gauge the smell that others are experiencing.  And don’t forget that cigar smokes can leave a mighty strong residue on clothing, furniture, and even the walls!  In order to enjoy your stogie without a heavy conscience, learn to become a considerate and courteous cigar smoker.

If you live with non-smokers, try to find a well-ventilated area of your residence where you can smoke comfortably.  Although it may be tempting to lock yourself away in an office or bedroom, it’s probably not a good idea to smoke in an enclosed area unless it has a window.  Make sure you have easy access to the window.  Never smoke in a closed area!  You are more likely to inhale the toxic air from your own cigar.  If possible, go outside to smoke.  Pull up a lawn chair; relax on the porch, or any other open area where you can smoke comfortably.  Get as far away as possible to non-smokers, especially children and the elderly.  Remember that cigar smoke contains many carcinogens that can be easily inhaled by non-smokers.

If you must smoke a cigar outside your home, remember that the courteous and respectful smoker will only light up where legally permitted.  Do no light up in a bar, hotel, or restaurant where smoking is clearly prohibited.  The courteous cigar smoker will also make sure to smoke in the company of other smokers.  If you are with someone who does not smoke, ask his or her permission.  If they agree, be considerate about it.  Make sure the smoke isn’t wafting in their direction.  Sit near an open window or space.  Make sure the air conditioner or current is moving the smoke in their direction!  Also, make sure no one around you is eating.  The secondhand smoke from a discourteous smoker is a surefire way to ruin a meal.  

A courteous cigar smoker will also be aware of their ashes.  If you must smoke outside your home, make certain to dispose of your ashes in a safe and appropriate container.  Don’t forget that ashes can easily blow away, especially in lower quality cigars.  Don’t litter with ashes, and be careful they don’t blow near anyone around you.

You can have quality family time while teaching your children easy magic tricks that will make them concentrate and follow a pattern while developing self-confidence when they show their tricks to others.

Here are three easy tricks you can teach your children, and before long, they’ll be putting on their own magic shows.

“Find the card is an easy trick that’s been around for ages. Take any 52-card deck of cards and make sure you sneak a look at the bottom card in the deck. For this purpose, let’s say it’s the queen of Hearts. Fan the cards out face down and ask your child to pick a card and remember it. Run your hand across the fanned cards to reform the stack, keeping the cards face down. Ask your child to put their card on top and cut the deck once. Then, tell them to take the bottom half of the deck and place it on top. Take the entire deck and fan it out, with the cards facing up. Look for your original bottom card – the queen of Hearts – and the card your child picked will be the next one below it.

Making a quarter disappear adds dexterity to the learning experience. To teach this trick to a child, practice holding the quarter on its edges between your index finger and thumb, with the palm of your hand facing your chest. Use your right hand if you’re right-handed, left hand if you’re left-handed. Practice passing the quarter to the other hand. Once you have the swap down, instead of passing the quarter to your other hand, say the magic words: “Abracadabra, make this coin disappear! At the same time, use the index and middle fingers on your empty hand to knock the quarter into the palm of the hand holding the quarter. Pretend you are grabbing the coin in your empty hand. While it remains secretly tucked in the hand it started in, show your other hand is empty and the quarter is gone.

Here’s one that adds a dash of geometry and a science lesson to the fun. All you need is a tinfoil pan or plate, water, some flat toothpicks, and the magic ingredient: clear liquid dishwashing soap. Have your child dip one of the toothpicks in the soap and set it nearby. Rinse the pan well to make sure it’s clean, then fill it with water. Arrange five toothpicks – don’t include the soapy one – in the shape of a pentagon: edges overlapping a bit to form a five-sided shape on the surface of the water. Once you’ve demonstrated, let your child form the pentagon several times because it takes some practice to get it just right.

Next, practice some words to tell the audience: You’ve arranged a special five-sided shape called a pentagon out of toothpicks, and you are going to cast a magic spell on a sixth toothpick to break it apart. Get the toothpick that was dipped in soap and wave a hand over it while chanting some magical words: Your child may already know “Swish and flick from the Harry Potter books and movies, so it’s a great choice for this trick. Closing the eyes and appearing to concentrate while casting the spell will help make the trick all the more entertaining when it’s later performed for an audience.

Finally, take the soapy “magic toothpick and dip it in the center of the pentagon. Your child will be amazed when the five toothpicks fly apart.

Here’s where the science comes in. Explain that all things, including water, are made up tiny things called molecules. Water molecules tend to cling together – you can demonstrate this by spilling some water on a table and pointing out how it blobs together to form a droplet.

The soap on the magic toothpick has different molecules that create a ripple around it, hitting the five-toothpick pentagon and breaking it apart. That’s the magic. Young children will never grow tired of doing this trick.

Despite the game’s name, the protagonist in I Can Hold My Breath Forever, can oly hold his breath for ten seconds, and the twists and turns in the cave tunnels have been carefully constructed to allow an air pocket every now and then. This constant fear of drowning adds a layer of suspense to what would otherwise be a rather calming game. The game’s graphical style is reminsicent of computer games of the spectrum age, and it almost plays like a retro game too.

If it were not for the immersive storyline, this game would be another vaguely interesting platformer, but the story really draws the player in and makes them feel they have experienced something. Although the game is short, the ten or so minutes spent playing or trading it will be rewarding for any player looking to try something different from the run of the mill Flash games online.
